IBM Creates the Chic Accessory for Designers

The video linked below (not possible to publish here) is from last year and it is about the great and interesting project of IBM virtual technologies with the aim to cut down on fashion design costs:

Fashion Research Institute, Inc. (FRI) has launched a subsidiary, Black Dress Technology (Black Dress), to develop an end-to-end enterprise solution for virtual-worlds-based  product design for the fashion industry in conjunction with IBM, FRI’s technology partner.

I had the pleasure, today, to be invited by one of the most interesting person inworld, Roxelo Babenco, to exhibit my virtual designs to the Museo del Metaverso.

The Museum is like an horizontal and vertical square where you can meet the artists, some of them work there; it is full of cool installations, sculptures, and so on. The perception of the space is great!

The museum is always in progress, it everyday grows due to the costantly interests of Roxelo to new forms of expression in digital artworks and what i appreciate in particular is the way of encouraging new “artists” to make their works.

I feel me a maker and an observer and it is cool to be there among other ppl that love to make, to express, to share.

Ars in Ara il mio abstract

Abstract anzi superabstract del mio intervento al Convegno Ars in Ara del 5/6 giugno a Roma.

Virtual Fashion
Veloce panorama del cambiamento del Fashion sul Web attraverso l’uso dell’avatar, del modelling e di come un vasto numero di utenti giocano un ruolo trasformandosi in creativi in alcuni casi.
Nuove emergenze, nuove modalità di approccio, nuovi protagonisti da indagare.
Un pensiero che accomuna alcuni designers di Second Life potrebbe essere: inizi a lavorare per passione o per gioco delle ore che poi diventano, man mano che cresci nella tua esperienza, giorni, sull’idea di una creazione, sulle sue texture, ombre ed effetti, sulle sue linee, per far si che prenda forma in SL, poi ti rendi conto che lo fai non solo per gioco ma per simulare qualcosa che va al di là della grid di SL. Quando scopri di avere la vocazione, allora nasce una grande esigenza: ti apri al confronto e porti fuori dal contesto di Second Life quello che tu stesso hai esteso al suo interno … chissà magari in te nasce e ti viene riconosciuta una nuova reale professionalità.
L’azione del disegno, del comporre, è un’estensione del proprio pensiero, una simulazione di una realtà interiore o una riproduzione della realtà stessa: azione più facile nel mondo di Second Life caratterizzato da un’interfaccia semplice e soprattutto dalla libertà di potersi esprimere senza rigidi e consueti canoni.

Why am I in Second Life?

Virtual has always been the extension of my mind during the act of project.
Constantly in search of new dimensions, shapes, tecnology innovations, evolution of society, trends of yourgers as of olders, opened to everykind of expressions.
I try to image and draw everything from the urban plan to a dress.
Why not?
I am an architect no other names need to define my interestes and I am here also to learn by all!
I am a maker, I observe a lot and I like to take my position only if i have the knowledge to define it.
Art, Architecture, Landscape, Partecipation of citizens during the project procees, Global art, Ambientations, Costumes, Dresses, E-learning, “Second life 2″ ….
Why 2? because it is the moment of real freedom in SL without marketing by enterprises that always try to capture our daily time.

Fashion addict so i tryed to make fashion (lol) … everyday I make urban plans and architecture so in SL after all I decided to explore fashion.
Anyway open to everykind of visual expressions and 3d performances.
Interested to the evolution of informatic tecnology applied to draw, virtuality and so on … i discovered very interesting also 3d in fashion and i run following the fast evolution.
… never i will stop to use my hand to make the first sign in a paper sheet even if i love computers that help me a lot to simulate the creations.
Sharing in a blog, in a virtual interactive world is very nice and helpfull to open our minds.

The Dream, unique dress, inspired by the Henry Rousseau’s famous painting

This is a unique dress (I mean that it is only one exclusive). I made it for the Auction pro Abruzzo rebuilding after earthquake.

The event, named SolidArt, is an important initiative that comes with some designers of Second Life® invited to create dresses using the textures from famous paintings of Nineteenth. These creations will be shown inworld and the Auction proceeds will be donated to Abruzzo. Click here for more details about SolidArt.

There is no point to talk about this amazing painting. I can try only to describe my feeling. Personally, I have chosen this painting because it is about nature. Nature sometime is bad and sometime is good and this is what has happened in Abruzzo. In that region of Italy, Nature, in the meaning of landscape, is wonderful but it changed the face of a lot of little towns and of L’Aquila (the capital of the region) and what has changed is the story of a lot of family, persons …

In this painting I find these 2 faces of Nature and the mystery of exotic landscape and the presence of a layed woman on a sofa makes me full of hopes because she lays relaxed and she is enjoying the place. Some critics have sayd that the woman is a young girl loved by Henry Rousseau and maybe it is right.

What I see watching the woman is her innocence and her dreaming about this amazing landscape full of plants and exotic animals.

My dress is worn by a young girl, I made the shape thinking on this. In the same way I thought about a dress influenced by exotic lines.

The dress is composed in a shirt and short pants, veils in hips, leg tattoo with flowers, they are captured from the landscape, the shoes and shape are included. The texture is patterned like a silk velvet and decorated with golden sequins.
